Our story
More than half a century of golf in Ikeja.
From six holes on an airline football pitch to one of Lagos’ best-loved members’ clubs.
Since 1968
A club that grew out of a love of the game.
Ikeja Golf Club was founded in 1968 by a group of golfers that included staff of Nigerian Airways and officers of the Nigerian Air Force. Their first course had just six holes, two of them laid out on the Nigerian Airways football pitch.
By 1970 the members had outgrown pitch-and-putt and resolved to acquire the land that is still the club’s home on Works Road. Over the decades the layout has matured into a lush, tree-lined course in the middle of one of Lagos’ busiest districts. It is green space that the club is proud to protect.
Ikeja has hosted the Lagos State First Lady Golf Tournament, MTN World Golf Championship qualifiers, junior championships and a full calendar of club and interclub events.
