It promises yet another weekend of exhilarating golf at the Ikeja Golf Club, where the best corporate players are expected to gather to fight for bragging rights and honours at the greens.

The 2019 edition of the Ikeja Golf Club Corporate Challenge Cup is expected to tee off this weekend with about 19 teams drawn mainly from the club taking part in the tournament.
Ideh listed , Adeco WestAfrica, Ubosi Eleh and Co, Sterling Bank, GT Bank, Alpha Pharmacy, Healthline Limited, Xpress Solutions, Oceanic Health, ICMA, Prime Metro, Yoke Solutions, Powertrac , ADL Solutions as some of the participants. Others are Pepsi, Golfview Hotels, Cambridge College, Alpha Specialties and Graceco.

“Everybody is looking forward to this weekend’s competition and if you have been following the preparations so far you will know that this year’s event will be keenly contested,” the Captain said.

The stakes are high hence the number of golfers ready to enter the fray. It is the third edition of the Eagles Golf Tournament at the Ikeja Golf Club and already, over 100 golfers have registered for the event billed for the 10-hole course at the Ikeja Golf Club.

Sponsored by Scale Trade Nigeria Limited, apart from the action on the course, players will have the opportunity of golf apparels and paraphernalia at discount prices at the one-day event.

Speaking on the programme, Ikeja Club Captain, Jolomi Ideh said the event is a brilliant addition to the club’s tournament calendar and the offering of discount sales puts it in a different class.

Members of Ikeja Golf Club came out en-mass on Saturday in celebration of one of their own, the newly appointed Lagos State Police Commissioner, Mr Oluwole Edgar Imohimi.
The Police boss who came in company of some of his senior officials was welcomed by the Club Captain, Niyi Latinwo and some members of the Club’s board of Trustees.
In his welcome address, the Club Captain expressed his joy in having the Police boss in their midst, saying he believes very much that the golfer is ready to improve on the security situations in the state.
“We are proud to have you in our midst and we believe that you are ready to work for the safety of Lagos state. It is that belief that informed the Club’s decision to host you today”, Latinwo said.

Overwhelmed by the honour done on him, the Commissioner promised to do his best to keep everybody in Lagos, including his colleagues at Ikeja Golf Club safe.
“I am overwhelmed with joy by this hosting by my people” he said, adding, “as I stand before you today, I promise, with the support of my colleagues in the Police Force to keep the people of Lagos state, including golfers safe”.

While urging Lagosians to be watchful, Imohimi said, his strategy for combating crime in Lagos is one that involves everybody.

“What I am bringing to Lagos is not new, what is different however is the strategy. We are trying to re-invigorate community policing. We know the Police can’t do it all alone. So we will work with Lagosians, and jointly we will solve the security challenges in Lagos”, the Police boss promised. 

He listed Cultism and Rape as some of the crimes to be dealt with in Lagos. He also promised to deal with the unprofessional conduct of his men.
